As attempts to discredit Special Counsel Robert Mueller simmer as the former FBI chief investigates Russian interference in the 2016 American elections, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is taking another path. Many in the conservative media are busy pointing out that some on Mueller’s vastly experienced legal team at DOJ are former Clinton campaign contributors, seeking to portray Mueller’s investigation — especially as it gets closer to Trump — as a “witch hunt.” But Ryan has more respect, apparently, for the justice system than the president. The same week Trump called the US judiciary a “laughingstock,” Ryan called Mueller’s team “professionals.” Ryan said “this is our justice system” and encouraged people to let it “play out.”
Here was Ryan’s advice for people seeking to discredit Mueller’s investigation: “Let Bob Mueller do his job, let the professionals do their job, this is our justice system and and the justice system needs to play itself out,” Ryan said. (see below)
