On the Fresh off the Boat episode “First Day,” it’s the first day of high school for Eddie (Hudson Yang) and already he’s going against his mother’s wishes. She forbade Eddie to try out for the football team but he does anyway to impress his flute-playing girlfriend Alison (Isabella Alexander). Eddie’s plan is detoured when Jessica (Constance Wu) shows up on the football field. Meanwhile, Louis (Randall Park) is at the steakhouse butting heads with Kenny Roger’s right-hand man, Matthew Chestnut.
Matthew is portrayed by Matt Oberg. He’s known for his roles on Veep (Buddy Calhoun), The Real O’Neals (VP Murray), The Comedians (Mitch), Hart of Dixie (Scooter), and The Onion News Network (Tucker), among others. Fresh off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm on ABC, right after The Middle.
