In the 9JKL episode “The Key to Life,” the key refers to the key to Josh’s (Mark Feuerstein) apartment. After changing the locks to his apartment, Josh refuses to give a spare key to his well-meaning but intrusive mother Judy (Linda Lavin). Meanwhile, Josh’s sister-in-law Eve (Liza Lapira) does her best not to get cropped out of the family holiday card. The photographer is portrayed by Kadeem Hardison. The native New Yorker actor is known for his roles on K.C. Undercover (Zendaya’s father Craig Cooper), Everybody Hates Chris (Judge Harry Watkins), Girlfriends (Eldon Parks), House (Lawyer Howard Gemeiner), and The Cosby Show spin-off A Different World (Dwayne Wayne), among others.
Hardison is also recognized for his roles in Spike Lee’s School Daze (Edge), Made of Honor (Felix) and White Men Can’t Jump (Junior). In School Daze, Hardison played a college student named Edge who was famous for his repeated use of the catch phrase “That’s right got dammit!” which would have become an Internet meme had Lee’s 1988 movie been released in the 21st century. 9JKL airs Mondays at 8:30pm on CBS.
