For her semi-finals performance on America’s Got Talent, plane crash survivor Kechi sang the emotional song “Don’t Worry About Me.” It was written by 24-year-old British singer/songwriter Sophie “Frances” Cooke (she goes by Frances professionally). After studying music at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, Frances released her first EP, Grow, in July 2015. Frances released her second EP, Let It Out in October. By December, she was shortlisted for the 2016 Brit Awards and nominated for the BBC Sound of 2016.
“Don’t Worry About Me” is from Frances’ first studio album, Things I’ve Never Said, which was released in March. After listening to Kechi’s rendition, Simon Cowell told her it was her “best performance by a clear mile.” Heidi Klum agreed and added, “You ruled the stage like a queen.” The results of the semifinals will be announced on Wednesday, September 13. The winner of America’s Got Talent, Season 12 will be announced on Wednesday, September 20 at 8pm.
