As The Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay says during the July 24 episode, “It’s down to the wire.” Rachel brings the three bachelors left — Bryan, Eric and Peter — home to Dallas to meet her family before whisking them away for romantic overnight dates in Rioja, Spain. In Dallas, Rachel and Peter go shopping for children’s clothes for her nephews. Rachel admits that she’s been drawn to Peter in a way she couldn’t explain but he’s also been more reserved than the other guys. Is Peter playing hard to get or is he simply giving a serious commitment (marriage) serious consideration?
Meanwhile, during her one-on-one date with Eric, Rachel asks him, “Do you have any fears because you haven’t been in love? Do you feel like in your past relationship experience that you’re ready to leap forward to the ‘you know I’m ready to get down on a knee'” kind of place. Eric shakes his head, “Without you there is no experience. If there was no Rachel, there wouldn’t be this.” Eric goes on to tell Rachel, “You embody everything I want – in a wife.” That makes her smile. Then he says, “I’m in love with you.” He declares, “Rachel Lindsay, I love you,” and they kiss. Eric eliminated any doubt that he’s ready to propose. Peter has not, yet. Is the chase — the mystery, the uncertainty — the thing that has drawn her to Peter in a way she couldn’t explain? The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
