In the MasterChef Junior episode ‘A Presidential Mystery Box,’ former First Lady Michelle Obama will appear by video to give the Top 14 cooks a mystery-box challenge. Later, the kids are also delighted to see actress Julie Bowen (mother of three, Claire on Modern Family) in the kitchen. She presents the next challenge – to create a dish in honor of their mothers.

In a promotional video, chefs Christina Tosi and Gordon Ramsay give Bowen a 30-second rapid-fire Q&A that includes questions like: Which do you prefer tag or hide-and-seek (tag), chocolate or vanilla (chocolate), favorite after-school snack (green apples and cheese), and who would you want to be stuck on a deserted island with? Bowen seems surprised herself when she blurts out Ralph Fiennes. The English actor is known for his roles in Schindler’s List, The English Patient, The Constant Gardener, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and the Harry Potter films (Lord Voldemort), among others. MasterChef Junior airs Fridays at 8pm on FOX.
