Could Sesame Street’s not-too-subtle stabs at Donald Trump over the years — they call a loathsome character Donald Grump — be the motivation behind the Trump administration’s desire to cut off funding for PBS? (After all, PBS — unlike CNN, et al — hasn’t been a frequent target of Trump’s “fake news” accusations.) The Donald Grump character is described like this: “Donald Grump happens to have the most trash of any grouch in the world… He’s loaded with trash… his name is on every piece of trash in town.”
There’s even a Donald Grump song, which you can hear below (first video). The Grump creation wears a spectacularly Trump-like hairstyle. Later he builds the Grump Tower (also below) — using something like a kiddie version of eminent domain and some hard persuasion. Seasame Street wasn’t fooling around either — the Grump Tower skit is more than ten minutes long.
