The ABC 20/20 episode ‘Lost at Sea’ investigates the disappearance and presumed death of Linda Carman, 54, mother of Nathan Carman, 22, who was the last person to see her alive. They had gone on a fishing trip on a 31-foot boat called the Chicken Pox which sank at sea in September 2016. A freighter found Nathan on a life raft after being lost at sea for eight days. His mother’s body has not been found. Nathan agreed to be interviewed on ABC 20/20 where he is grilled by ABC News correspondent Linzie Janis – not just about his mother, but her wealthy father too who was murdered in 2013. Nathan was also the last person to see his real estate mogul grandfather, John Chakalos, too. His estate is worth at least $43 million.
“You were the last one to see two people – do you know how that looks?”Janis asks. Nathan says “I did not cause my mother’s death,” to which Janis says, “You are either the most unlucky man alive or you had something to do with those deaths.” Nathan Carman eventually walks out during the interview, saying, “We’re done here.” 20/20 airs Fridays at 10pm on ABC.
