On First Family of Hip Hop, the cameras will follow Leland Robinson, Sr., son of Joe and Sylvia Robinson who founded Sugar Hill Records in the late 1970s. Leland is reviving the record label with new talent and with the help (and sometimes interference) of his family, including his cousin, rapper Shanell “Lady Luck” Jones.
Shanell will appear on the show with her girlfriend, Somaya Reece. Somaya is an artist too. And this isn’t her first time on a reality TV show. She has appeared on Love & Hip Hop and Famously Single. Now Shanell and Somaya are launching their own label, La Rosa Records. Somaya knows how to run a company — she’s also the founder of Get Slim Detox Tea. She also knows what it’s like to have a lot of competition. First Family of Hip Hop airs Sundays at 9pm on Bravo.
