In the Empire episode ‘One Before Another’, while Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is on high alert after his business encounter with Shine (Xzibit) goes bad, his ex-wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) gets blindsided by her probation officer Sharlene Davis (TaRon Patton). When she shows up for her meeting with Sharlene, Cookie comes in all smiles and delivers coffee to everyone in the office. But when she sits down, Sharlene reprimands Cookie for being 45 minutes late. “I’m going to have to write you up,” she says. When Cookie asks what’s going on, “Last time I was here, you were showing me pictures of your grandkids,” Sharlene says the last time she saw Cookie was 3 months ago. Sharlene says that’s going to change. Cookie now has to check-in three times a week.

After Cookie balks at the idea of coming in three times a week, Sharlene calmly threatens Cookie: “If you need time to consider, I can send you back to Danbury to think it over.” Empire airs Wednesdays at 9pm on FOX.
