On an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Oprah Winfrey sits down with Olympic runner Suzy Favor Hamilton who became a prostitute, the daughter of the late Richard Pryor, Rain Pryor, and rock icon Sammy Hagar aka The Red Rocker. The “I Can’t Drive 55” singer took over David Lee Roth’s spot as the lead singer of Van Halen in 1985. After 11 years, Hagar left the band. It wasn’t amicable. In 2003, they got back together for a reunion tour but it ended poorly.
[Hagar’s 2012 autobiography Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock was a bestseller]
Hagar, 68, tells Oprah: “The whole Van Halen issue – I’ve really put that all behind me. And I’m proud of what we did.” Hagar says he’s decided to forgive and forget. “I ain’t lookin’ for nothing from nobody.” He says he doesn’t want to get back in a band. “I just want to be friends. I want to say I’m sorry about anything I’ve said bad about you.” Oprah: Where Are They Now? airs Saturdays at 10pm on OWN.
