In the TV mini-series Houdini & Doyle, Hungarian-born illusionist Harry Houdini teams up with British author Arthur Conan Doyle (Stephen Mangan) to solve crimes involving the supernatural. In the premiere episode “The Maggie’s Redress,” they investigate the murder of a nun found dead in the Magdalene Laundries. Most Americans won’t recognize the actors of Houdini & Doyle as most are English actors and most are making their debuts on American TV. The exceptions are Englishman Mangan (who plays Sean in Showtime’s Episodes) and American Michael Weston who plays Houdini.
Weston was born in New York (as Michael Rubinstein). He’s known for his roles in the films Garden State (Kenny), The Dukes of Hazzard (Deputy Enos Strate), and State of Play (Hank). Weston is also recognized for his roles on Elementary (Oscar Rankin), Psych (Adam Hornstock), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Simon Marsden), House, M.D. (Lucas Douglas), Scrubs (Private Brian Dancer), and Six Feet Under (Jake), among others. Houdini & Doyle airs Mondays at 9pm on FOX.
