The Voice’s Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks will return to the show to perform his song “4 Pockets” off his forthcoming album “A Good Storm.” The song, written by Sawyer, starts out: “I’m starting/ To feel like/ Life’s not really/ Working out/ For me/ For me.” He sings about drifting, hearing a howling, and knowing “this is not where I want to be.” He tells of a hurt in his heart and that he feels “trapped.” And then at the end of the song he sinks to the bottom of the sea. “I got 4 pockets and they’re full of rocks and I’m moving toward the sea.” It’s a moving song that will certainly clash with Joe Jonas’ lighthearted band DNCE, which will also perform on the show.
[Sawyer’s album “A Good Storm” will be released on May 13; pre-orders accepted on Amazon.]
What do Sawyer Fredericks and DNCE have in common? They’re both produced by Republic Records, which also works with The Voice’s Season 9 winner Jordan Smith, and even bigger stars including Ariana Grande, Drake, Lil Wayne, Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam, Florence & the Machine, Nicki Minaj, and The Weeknd. Sawyer and DNCE will perform on The Voice on May 3 at 8pm on NBC.
