Vitaly Stepanov is a former official with the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. He and his wife Yuliya Stepanov, a former member of the Russian Track and Field Team who once doped, exposed “the state-sponsored doping that got the team suspended from international competition last November.” 60 Minutes correspondent Armen Keteyian interviewed the couple in the U.S. where they have taken refuge. Keteyian reports that they fear retaliation.
Keteyian has also interviewed Grigory Rodchenkov, the former head of Russia’s drug testing lab. Rodchenkov says Russian Intelligence Officers helped Russia cheat at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Stepanov concurs: “FSB tried to control every single step of the anti-doping process in Sochi.” 60 Minutes airs Sundays at 7pm on CBS.
