Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will perform their country ballad duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” on The Voice on May 9 at 8pm on NBC. The song will be on Shelton’s forthcoming album If I’m Honest, which will be released May 20. The lyrics (which Shelton wrote) include the lines: “I never meant to get so into you/ Thought I was using you just to get me through/ You know I’m broken, I don’t trust anyone/ Last thing I needed was to fall in love.”
Shelton said of the song “It came from a time and place when Gwen and I were beginning our journey together and both experiencing a hard time letting our guards down with each other.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
