The TV movie Blue-Eyed Butcher is based on the true story of Susan Wright (portrayed by Sara Paxton). The 26-year-old confessed to killing her husband of six years, Jeff Wright (portrayed by Justin Bruening). She stabbed him 193 times with different knives and then buried him in the backyard. Susan Wright cried while on the stand of her trial. She claimed self-defense, saying that Jeff Wright had been physically abusive for years. Prosecutor Kelly Siegler said Susan Wright was a liar and that her motive was $200,000 in life insurance money. Siegler hoped Wright would get the maximum 55 years sentence but she got 25 years instead.
[People magazine correspondent Eric Francis wrote the book A Wife’s Revenge about Susan Wright]
