The A&E TV series Damien is based on the original 1976 film The Omen. In the film, Damien was the little boy who turned out to be the Antichrist. In the TV show, Damien Thorn (Bradley James) is an adult working as a professional war photographer. A traumatic experience on the job triggers the beast inside him to rise. And the woman who has protected him all his life, Ann Rutledge, is at hand to help Damien embrace his Antichrist side.
Ann Rutledge is portrayed by Barbara Hershey. She’s best known for her roles in the films Black Swan (The Queen), Hannah and Her Sisters (Lee), Falling Down (Beth), Beaches (Hillary Whitney Essex), The Last Temptation of Christ
(Mary Magdalene), Insidious (Lorraine), Hoosiers (Myra Fleener), The Natural (Harriet Bird), and The Right Stuff
(Glennis Yeager), among others. Hershey is also recognized for her recurring roles on the TV shows Once Upon a Time (Cora Mills) and Chicago Hope (Dr. Francesca Alberghetti). Damien will premiere on A&E on March 7 at 10pm.
