Actress Katharine McPhee is known for her roles on Scorpion as Paige Dineen and in Smash as Karen Cartwright. But ten years ago, as a singer, McPhee was competing for the title of American Idol on Season 5 (2006). She didn’t win, but she came close. She made it to the finals but lost to Taylor Hicks. McPhee will return to American Idol to sing during the farewell season. Fun fact: McPhee’s latest album, her fifth Hysteria, features the song “Round Your Little Finger” which she co-wrote with Sia, who will also perform (separately) on American Idol on March 24, 8pm on FOX. Sia’s latest album is This Is Acting.
