Who Is The Caretaker on ‘The Blacklist’?

On The Blacklist, after a State Department official is killed in Beijing, Red (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone) seek out The Caretaker. He’s a Blacklister who keeps lethal secrets about criminals in a safe-deposit vault buried in a cemetery. When he starts to release information, Red warns Liz (as he is prone to), “people will die.”

The Caretaker is portrayed by Reg E. Cathey. He’s best known for his roles in on the TV shows House of Cards (Freddy, for which he won an Emmy in 2015), Grimm (The Baron), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Barry Querns), The Wire (Norman Wilson), and Oz (Martin Querns). Cathey is also well-recognized for his roles in the films Fantastic Four (Dr. Franklin Storm), St. Vincent (Gus), Se7en (Dr. Santiago), The Machinist (Jones), and The Mask (Freeze). The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
