LeBron James just called teammate James Jones his “favorite player of all time.” What, you thought it would be Kobe? LeBron’s high opinion of James Jones is shared by his teammates and others around the league. Besides, LeBron doesn’t just work with Jones on the court. He sees him at the office, too: Jones is the secretary-treasurer of the NBA Players Association. The Clippers’ Chris Paul is the president; LeBron James is first vice-president.
But his favorite player ever? Well LeBron has never won a championship without the 6’8″ veteran forward — so there’s that. (They were teammates on the the 2012 and 2013 Miami Heat title winners.) The South Florida native Jones was a three-time academic All-American for the University of Miami from 2000-03, which may account for why he handles the treasurer’s box at the NBAPA. Jones is averaging less than ten minutes a game this year for the Cavaliers, but his impact in the locker room is obviously felt. He has a career average of 5.5 points per game.
