NBC’s Sunday Today TV host Craig Melvin introduced a segment about Katie Brown, the South Florida woman who posted a photo on Facebook of her dog with duct tape wrapped around his muzzle. Brown said she wanted to teach her dog to stop barking. The photo was quickly passed around on social media and complaints of animal cruelty were reported.
Melvin introduced the segment, delivered by Dylan Dreyer, by saying, “A woman quickly learned that she was barking up the wrong tree when she tried to teach her dog a lesson.” The phrase “barking up the wrong tree” caused his co-hosts to grimace (see photo above). At the end of Dreyer’s report, Melvin turned to his co-hosts and said, “We should follow up by taking the dog.”
