In The Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, Madison “Madie” Clark tries to keep her 19-year-old son Nick (Frank Dillane) from a crippling drug withdrawal while her fiancé Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) ventures out to find his son Chris (from his first marriage) before the zombies find him. Madie met Travis at work. A widow, she’s a guidance counselor at the high school where Travis is an English teacher. Madie is also mother to level-headed teenager Alicia (Alycia Debnam Carey).
Madison is portrayed by Kim Dickens. She’s played so many memorable roles, it’s difficult to pick a handful to highlight her career. Here goes: she’s known as Kate Baldwin on House of Cards, Colette Jane on Sons of Anarchy, Janette Desautel in Treme, Shelby on Friday Night Lights, and Joanie on Deadwood. Or maybe you recognize her from Gone Girl (Detective Rhonda Boney) or The Blind Side (Mrs. Boswell). Dickens considers herself a country girl. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, then graduated from Vanderbilt University before moving to New York to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre. Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
