The Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking the Dead, is what “the world looks like as it was transforming into the horrifying apocalypse depicted in The Walking Dead.” Set in Los Angeles, Fear the Walking Dead features a whole new cast of characters who are facing the beginning of the end of the world. One of them is high school English teacher Travis Manawa. Travis is determined to venture into the city of Los Angeles to find his son Chris before the zombies get him and the city falls.
Travis is portrayed by Cliff Curtis. The New Zealand-born actor is best known for playing a variety of ethnicities in American films including Blow (a Colombian), Training Day (a Latino) with Denzel Washington, and Three Kings (an Arab), among others. In Whale Rider, he proudly played a Maori for his role as Paikea’s father Porourangi. In his next film, Curtis will play a Jew. He will portray Yeshua (aka Jesus) in Risen, which is based on the Biblical story of the Resurrection but told through the eyes of a non-believer. Risen will be released in January 2016. Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
