Taste of Chicago is the world-renowned annual food fest billed as the “world’s largest food festival.” With 60 restaurants in the 2015 Taste, as it’s known, the Grant Park culinary celebration will no doubt keep its heavyweight title this year.
But the festival isn’t just about the food, though that aspect ranges widely from donuts to lobster. Taste of Chicago is about the music too. Chicago is a famously swinging city, and not just at Wrigley Field. An eclectic mix of musical choices is always part of the Taste festivities. The 2015 Taste of Chicago music lineup features a headlining act for each day of the festival (plus about six other acts per day). They are, in order: Weezer, Erykah Badu, The Chieftains, Spoon and Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. Putting aside the actual music for a moment, and just going on pure metaphor, there could hardly be a more inspired choice than Spoon. Unless there’s a band called Knife & Fork playing some local jazz club, which in Chicago there well might be. Taste of Chicago runs July 8 to July 12.
