Wrestling star Brock Lesnar is always threatening, but lately his threats have been directed at the WWE instead of terrified opponents. Lesnar is threatening to quit. He wants more money in a new deal and WWE is playing hardball. Wrestlemania 31 is March 23 and it’s thought that if Lesnar doesn’t have a deal in place by then he’ll walk. Lesnar is currently the World Heavyweight Champion.
The aggressive UFC is a contender for Lesnar’s services, so he’s got a place to go. But one certain way to keep Lesnar in the WWE fold is to focus on the enormous potential backend of a deal on a rematch with The Rock. That idea is being floated–for Wrestlemania 32–and The Rock says he’s considering it. The Rock’s criteria for the battle are exactly what would keep Lesnar around. The Rock told USA Today that he would “love that rematch” if it could be “something special.” Something special means Dallas, a venue big enough for them to break the attendance record–which a Rock-Lesnar rematch surely would. The money would be huge. The two met only once before, back in 2002, with the rookie Lesnar victorious. Lesnar just wants to make sure he’s got the right backend deal for The Rock rematch. That’s the real payday.
