Mark Hall, lead singer of the enormously popular Grammy-winning Christian rock band Casting Crowns, is asking for prayers from fans. Hall is set to undergo kidney surgery because doctors believe he likely has cancer. Hall posted about his diagnosis on Facebook, writing “Doctors found a solid mass in my right kidney about a week ago. They are 90% sure it’s cancer and they are going to remove the entire kidney next Wednesday, March 11th. They believe the cancer is contained in the kidney, which is also a great hope. They will know more once it is out and Pathology can see it.”
Fans are posting their wishes and prayers at #PrayingForMark. Hall is just 45. He formed Casting Crowns in 1999 when he was 30. All of the band’s members are youth pastors. The Casting Crowns fan base is enormous and loyal, with nearly 5 million followers on Facebook. Mr. Hall will no doubt receive a lot of prayers.
