Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) has been reportedly taken to the hospital “after suffering from severe chest pains.” The 83-year-old announced last year that he had the lung disease COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). He blames his illness on having been a smoker.
Last February, when Nimoy announced that he had COPD, he encouraged his followers to quit smoking. He tweeted: “If you quit after you’re diagnosed with lung damage, it’s too late. Grandpa says learn my lesson. Quit now. LLAP.” LLAP stands for Live Long and Prosper.
