Self-portraits are nothing new–Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Frida Kahlo (to name a few) been there, done that. But those people had mad skills! Nowadays, utter amateurs are shooting themselves and damaging their own images. You want a selfie to show your best self, right? As a popular meme has it: Believe In Your Selfie. Fortunately a London school is offering a modern update to self portrait training. They call the class The Art of Self Portraiture–though students refer to it as “That iPhone Selfie class.” Over 30,000 Londoners take classes at CityLit, the #1 adult education institution in Europe.
The course promises a place to “improve your critical understanding of the photographic self portrait, on this introductory course, and develop your ideas to produce a coherent body of work.” So next year when Facebook gives you back your year in the life of you, you look good. Selfie sticks
