Two 13-year-old girls from Waukesha, Wisconsin, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, are being charged with attempted murder. When they were 12 they allegedly stabbed a classmate 19 times, leaving her to crawl to her own rescue. The girls say they were trying to please a horror story meme called Slenderman on the website Creepypasta Wiki. “To climb into this realm, a user must kill someone,” one of the suspects is said to have told police. Creepypasta has issued a statement condemning the attack. “We are a literature site, not a satanic cult.”
Both girls have been deemed competent to stand trial. They are being charged as adults. A preliminary hearing is set for February 18, 2015.
