You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, and you can’t bake a life-sized cake of Jennifer Lawrence without cracking 150. Baker Lara Clarke, who is a “massive fan” of the Hunger Games movies, has baked a full size cake of the Oscar winner as Katniss Everdeen. Her reason for doing so? To lash back at all the haters of her Rice Krispie Johnny Depp cake. “People said my crisped rice Johnny Depp cake wasn’t a proper cake, so I wanted to show them I could make a life-sized sponge cake,” she told the BBC. The amateur baker researched Lawrence’s exact measurements to ensure the cake would be as accurate as possible. “During her two-and-a-half months of working on the cakes, Ms Clarke researched the actress’s height, waist and bust measurements online and claims the 5ft 10in (1.7m) cake is exactly life-sized.”
Clarke, whose Depp cake won her gold at the Cake International competition in 2013, is entering her Katniss cake in this year’s competition along with a Tyrion Lannister cake. Actor Peter Dinklage is 4ft 5in (1.35m). Presumably Clarke broke fewer eggs to make his cake.
