Emily VanCamp, star of ABC’s drama Revenge and Kate/Agent 13 in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is hosting the TV special Marvel, 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop! on Tuesday, November 4 at 9pm on ABC. In one hour she’ll be America’s tour guide as she flips through the history of the country’s beloved comics company. VanCamp will open the show by introducing the audience to Marvel editor Martin Goodman and his first superheroes including the Human Torch and Sub-Mariner.
Marvel wasn’t always raking in the dough as it is now with its Hollywood blockbuster films. The company declared bankruptcy in the mid-1990s and struggled with early translations of its characters to TV and movies, including Iron Man. It’s hard to believe now seeing as Iron Man 3 grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide.
