Former Major League Baseball All-Star Jose Canseco, who famously admitted to performance-enhancing drug use during his career, accidentally shot himself in the hand at his Las Vegas home on Tuesday, October 28. He was cleaning out the handgun when it went off. The injury damaged one of the fingers on his left hand. According to Las Vegas Metro Police, “There was nothing suspicious. There was no alcohol involved, just a misstep with a handgun.”
Canseco’s fiancée, model Leila Knight, told the Los Angeles Times that Canseco didn’t know the gun was loaded. Knight had different words to those who took to Twitter and made fun of “her love bug” Canseco. “All u a**holes making negative comments about what happened w/ my fiancé. I’m sure u wouldn’t b laughing if it were u. Such cold hearted souls.”
