Tony Romo is expected to be healthy against the 49ers at AT&T Stadium today and Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant (even without a contract extension), running back DeMarco Murray and tight end Jason Witten are glad to hear it. If the Dallas defense is as porous as some people think it will be, the Romo-powered offensive pop will be expected to carry the load for Dallas.
The 49ers defense should be a bit porous also, which means if Dallas can’t put points on the board today, Romo may not be as healthy as the Cowboys claim. The 49ers’ Navarro Bowman is out for the first half of the season and pass rusher extraordinaire Aldon Smith won’t be getting to Romo this afternoon–he’s suspended for the first nine games of the season (substance abuse, personal conduct). 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will try to do against the Cowboys what his team pretty much failed to do in the preseason–score touchdowns. He’s probably licking his chops though about the weak Dallas secondary. Kaepernick is ready for another big year. As Kaepernick’s Twitter handle reads: “Do not underestimate the determination of a quiet man.” The 49ers opened as a 2.5 favorite and could be a 5 point favorite by game time. 4:25 on Fox.
