Michael Johns, a handsome well-liked singer who made it all the way to the finals on Season 7 of American Idol, died Friday. The cause, according to The Hollywood Reporter, was a blood clot in his ankle. The American Idol Facebook page read ““Michael Johns was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of his passing. He was a part of our American Idol family and he will be truly missed.”
A top-notch athlete and tennis player who came to the US on a tennis scholarship, the Australian-born Johns wowed judges by singing covers of artists from Otis Redding to Aerosmith. He had numerous record deals before and after Idol.
