Ebony magazine senior digital editor Jamilah Lemieux spoke with MSNBC journalist Craig Melvin Saturday on his series examining “The Future of HBCU”– Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Lemieux opted for a different kind of attention grabbing garb than the regular old college hoodie. A Howard University alum, Lemieux wore a form-fitting black t-shirt emblazoned with the names (in stark white letters): Debbie. Zora. Phylicia. Toni. Roberta. For those in the know that means fellow alumnae of Howard, the legendary black university in Washington, DC. The surnames attached to this illustrious group? That’s Debbie Allen, Phylicia Rashad, Toni Morrison, Roberta Flack.
The cool t-shirt was designed by yet another Howard alum who goes by Lehlee, and runs FLYY Apparel. She has a “Howard Made” shirt for men, too: Marshall. Young. Carmichael. Combs. Davis. Do you know the names?
