American Horror Story: Freak Show hit the air in October but Comic Con was pretty knocked out by American Horror Story‘s first panel. Emma Roberts and Sarah Paulson joined Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates–along with Michael Chiklis and Evan Peters for a rollicking hour. They’ll all be ready for John Carroll Lynch as a new villain who will, according to executive producer Tim Minear, “scare the shit out of you” in season 4.
The panel was lighthearted considering, you know, the horror. Kathy Bates, of course, is a career genius at swinging both ways–a comedienne when called upon and a torturer if need be (see Misery!). Jessica Lange haunts the heart of the show. Season 4 will focus on one of the last real freak shows in the country, in Jupiter, FL in the 1950s. American Horror Story is on FX–it premiered in October of 2011.
