First Lady Jill Biden graces the cover of the new issue of Women’s Health magazine, smiling in workout clothes and walking her bike. White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton shared a post about Dr. B — as the FLOTUS is professionally known — saying of the magazine feature: “So much here that captures why we all admire FLOTUS.”

Dalton, who communicates publicly for a living, makes a special point to note how Biden treats her own speaking engagements, pulling out a quote where the First Lady admits: “I practice, I rehearse, I want it to be really good. Because I care! And when you care, you want it to resonate with people, you want it to matter.”

And yet despite her preparation, Biden is described as insouciantly natural — and expressly not “performative” — by profiler Liz Plosser, who writes of Dr. B:
“Her face is luminous, and her posture is poised as she stands in well-worn On Cloud 5 sneakers and a color-block dress; she strikes me as authentic, warm, and completely at ease with herself. The opposite of performative.”
Biden, 72, doesn’t need to switch gears to represent women’s health — she’s an active sort, as seen below this weekend with her husband biking in Delaware.
