California Congressmen Ted Lieu and Eric Swalwell were among House Democrats who passionately defended Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, as Mayorkas again faced heavy fire and renewed impeachment talk from MAGA Republicans in Congress.
Swalwell repeatedly called his MAGA colleagues “not serious people” and praised Mayorkas for doing the “hard job” of protecting the border of the “greatest country in the world.”
If you listen to anything today, listen to 2 minutes of @RepSwalwell dragging @HouseGOP so poetically🔥🔥

Swalwell contrasted the testimony of the serious Mayorkas with the “last person to sit in that chair” — the controversial Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was invited by GOP leadership to testify before Congress.
[NOTE: “U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) Judy Chu (CA-28) and Dan Goldman (NY-10) led a group of more than 100 House Democrats in calling on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan to withdraw an invitation for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to appear.”]
Rep. Lieu sought to portray the Biden administration’s success at the border as more effective than that of the Trump administration, comparing border apprehensions in a month during pre-COVID 2019 with recent apprehension figures from the Biden border policing efforts.

Below is Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan questioning Sec. Mayorkas at the hearing. The Congressman demonstrably talks more than he listens in the exchange, but from this clip it would be hard to characterize his line of questioning, as Swalwell does, as “not serious.”
How many illegal aliens has the Biden administration released into the United States?
