Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene picked a gun fight with Vice President Kamala Harris after a Harris’s tweet about banning assault weapons. Rep. Greene and VP Harris disagreeing on gun control measures is no surprise — Greene would holster up in the House chamber if she could, and Harris, the former DA and California Attorney General, has long maintained that adequate protection of school children and other civilians must include a ban on assault weapons.
Greene tried to call hypocrisy on Harris in her most recent tweet, insinuating that ban on “assault weapons” would leave everyday Americans unarmed and defenseless — while Harris enjoyed a secure personal safety enabled by the very weapons she decries.
“Are you giving up your security protection who carry ‘assault weapons’?” Greene asked Harris, before replying with snark to her own rhetorical question. “Yeah, I didn’t think so.”

Yeah, I didn’t think so.
The American people are not giving up their guns either. https://t.co/ttKJy4Yn58
Greene implies that since the Secret Service protects Harris, she doesn’t have the worries of the average American. Greene concludes that “American people are not giving up their guns either” since not everyone has Harris’s protections.
It’s notable that Greene publicly reminds her followers that Harris has a security detail that is heavily armed, as among Greene’s followers are those, like Greene herself, most ardent in the defense of the “Jan 6ers” — those who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, many of whom said they wanted to “hang Mike Pence” that day — see video above.
The endangered Pence escaped the Capitol — and the rioters calling for his execution — with the help of his security detail. Pence was, of course, like Harris, Vice President at the time.
