Chris Christie has paved a lane early in the GOP presidential primary race, and so far he seems to have it all to himself. Or rather if anyone else is driving in Christie’s lane and criticizing former President Donald Trump, the current frontrunner in the race, they’re doing it in whispers while Christie is driving around leaning heavy on his horn.
Christie’s consistency in knocking Trump as unfit to serve as President again has been such that the longshot candidate was recently called the “darling of the hard left” by Fox News personality Sean Hannity.
Hannity draws his darling conclusion based on the old adage that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” — and since the hard left and Christie both decry Trump and Trumpism, they are temporary bedfellows, strange as that may be.
Christie — a lifelong Republican, former prosecutor and two-term Governor of New Jersey — is hardly a liberal, as he will attest. But Christie does repeatedly claim that his party, the GOP, can find someone better to top the ticket than the indicted, twice-impeached Trump.

In a recent interview with CNN, Christie again slammed Trump for what Christie sees as his victim pose. The former Governor smirked and said the only reason Trump was in legal trouble was “because of his own conduct.”
Christie was responding to recent martyrdom claims Trump made that he was being indicted for all the people who believed in him — portraying himself as a proxy for what the left wants allegedly to do to all conservatives. Christie calls BS on Trump’s witch hunt persecution claim.
None of the other Americans, Christie said, referring to the millions for whom Trump claims to be a stand-in, “illegally retained classified national secrets after being asked politely, quietly and professionally for 18 months to voluntarily turn them back over after he left the White House.”
Christie said, “Look, he’s indicted because of his outrageous conduct.”
