Republican turned Democratic strategist Ally Sammarco delivers a memorable description — in good plain vernacular — for the Maryland candidate for U.S. Senate Angela Alsobrooks. Retweeting a new campaign video for Alsobrooks, Sammarco writes simply:
“This is one hell of a Democrat running for US Senate. The question is whether people will watch it and share it.”

When Alsobrooks shared the video, she captioned it: “There aren’t enough people in the US Senate who live like, think like and look like the people they’re supposed to represent. My Great-Grandma told me, ‘if you don’t like something, go farther and do better.’ I’m proud to say I’m running for the Senate. Let’s go farther together.”
Alsobrooks is running for the United States Senate seat in Maryland that is currently held by Ben Cardin. Cardin is retiring after four terms in the Senate. Alsobrooks is a Democrat and is the current executive of Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is the first woman to hold that position.
The Democratic primary is scheduled for June 28, 2023. U.S. Rep. David Trone and Montgomery County Council Member Will Jawando are among those also vying for Cardin’s seat.
“I’ve fought as your County Executive to create jobs and grow our economy, Alsobrooks says in another tweet. “We’ve invested in education, breaking ground on 10 new schools. We expanded access to health care, mental health and addiction treatment, and youth outreach. I will fight for all of Maryland in the Senate.”
