South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham wants abortions abolished, but “like always,” he says, the restrictions he seeks to impose on the practice include exceptions in “cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother.”
Even allowing for these exceptions, Graham is among the GOP’s staunchest pro-life legislators, and the Senator has been aggressively pushing the narrative that Democrats have “voted in support of legislation that would allow taxpayer-funded abortion, on demand, up to the moment of birth.”

The idea that abortions are occurring up to the “moment of birth” has been ridiculed, with one respondent to Graham’s tweet writing: “What in the Sam Hill is an ‘abortion at the moment of birth’?? Have you ever even met a real woman? Lord give me strength.”
Yet Graham’s recent tweet on the subject promotes a notion that exceeds and bizarrely extends that provocative “moment of birth” language to include the theory that abortions are happening “after the child is born.”
Graham shared a press release from SBA Pro-Life America that characterizes the “extreme Democratic position” that includes, it says, “abortion on demand, up until the moment of birth, paid for by taxpayers — and even in some cases after the child is born.”
Great meeting today with President Trump, @sbaprolife and @tperkins.

In sharing the release, Graham tweeted it was a “great meeting” with President Trump, SBA Pro-Life, and Family Research Council member Tony Perkins.
