American actress Sophia Bush is known for her TV roles on One Tree Hill, Chicago P.D., and Good Sam, among others. The 40-year-old California native just announced that she’s making her stage debut and on the famous West End in London, England.
Bush just announced that she will star in the play 2:22 A Ghost Story with Clifford Samuel, Jaime Winstone, and Ricky Champ. Bush says: “This script is unbelievable… I had chills with every page turn.” As seen in the poster below, Bush looks like she’s already in character and looks spooked.
The play, written by Danny Robins, received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play in 2022. It’s a thriller: A couple renovating a large house in Greater London hear the sound of someone moving around the house (via a baby monitor) at exactly 2:22 am.
When they host a dinner party for an old university friend (Bush), who brings her new boyfriend (who believes in the supernatural), the host tries to persuade everyone to stay up until 2:22 to see what happens.
In The Guardian, Kate Wyver wrote, “With a brilliant sense of mounting dread and just the right number of jump-scares, Danny Robins’ new ghost story is a slick, chilling romp of a play.” Watch the trailer above — that’s singer Lily Allen making her acting debut as Jenny.
Other American actresses who have played Jenny include Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) in London, and Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) in Los Angeles.
2:22 Ghost Story opens May 14th at The Apollo Theatre.
