President Donald Trump’s daughter Tiffany Trump (with his ex-wife Marla Maples) posted a black image on her Instagram account with the hashtags #blackoutTuesday and #justiceforgeorgefloyd.
Blackout Tuesday — an online element of the black justice protests sweeping the country — is a social media initiative promoted by activists to spotlight inequality, to mourn, and to bring about policy change in the wake George Floyd’s murder in Minnesota.
Tiffany’s half-siblings Ivanka, Eric and Donald Trump, Jr. did not participate in Blackout Tuesday on Instagram. For perspective, the Kardashians and Jenners posted the black image on Instagram showing solidarity with the protests.
With the post, Tiffany Trump quoted Helen Keller: “Alone we can achieve so little; together we can achieve so much.”
The backlash Tiffany received came from all sides (see the comments) and included a jab at her choice of quote: “Fitting that you used a Helen Keller quote here, as you and your family continue to be blind and deaf to what’s really going on.”
