Retired NBA legend Dwyane Wade is keeping busy after moving from Miami to LA full time with actress wife Gabrielle Union and his family. And Wade has been getting serious business done in Cali, including the signing of rising NBA superstar D’Angelo Russell of the Golden State Warriors to a signature sneaker deal.
One of the few big time NBA stars who wasn’t attached to Nike or Adidas or Under Armour, Dwyane Wade has a deal with Chinese giant Li-Ning — where he has his own brand called Way of Wade.
Apparently the shoes work — even against Wade’s buddy LeBron James. Yup, Wade had a little fun dissing his close friend and NBA King LeBron James, showing Russell with a slam on the King. James, Wade knows, can take it.
Wade writes that “7 years ago, I decided to do the unpopular thing – leave the shoe company I was with to sign with @lining.official! I wanted to show the next generation of young people, especially athletes, that it’s not just one way of doing things.”
Russell evidently agrees with that philosophy because he was a breakout star last year and no doubt heard pitches from the bigger companies.
