Going through the crew’s NBA Playoff predictions written on post-its and stuck to the wall, NBA on TNT host Ernie Johnson had to admit Charles Barkley sure was right a lot. Especially about the Celtics, who Barkley rightly predicted would not win another game against the Milwaukee Bucks after Game 3. Johnson told Barkley “that was your most impressive prediction.”
Toward the end of the segment, Barkley again got off an one-liner that brought sanity back to the scenario. The sagacious Shaquille O’Neal had a post-it up there that said, “it’s not about the money, it’s about the partnership.” Johnson thought Shaq’s wisdom was worth preserving, complimenting it as “sound life and business advice.”
Wait, what business isn’t about the money? That’s when Barkley chimed in with a dose of reality for the three other multi-millionaire basketball commentators: “We’ll still get paid though,” he said. Barkley alone seems to realize platitudes like “it’s not about the money” only work when you have money. Otherwise, platitudes like that are worth about the price of the post-it it’s printed on.
