In the 9-1-1 episode “New Beginnings,” the first responders deal with a tanker carrying a tiger shark that crashes on the freeway and a gas leak in a plastic surgeon’s office happens mid-surgery. When not on the job, Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) tries to end her marriage for good, while Bobby (Peter Krause) meets Athena’s (Angela Bassett) parents for the first time.
Athena’s parents, Beatrice and Samuel Carter, are portrayed by Beverly Todd and Henry O. Sanders. Actress Beverly Todd is known for her roles in films with Morgan Freeman — The Bucket List (Morgan Freeman’s wife Virginia) and Lean on Me (Ms. Levias), and with Sidney Poitier – They Call Me Mr. Tibbs, Brother John and The Lost Man, among others.
Sanders is known for his roles in movies including Roman J. Israel, Esq.
