On the third night of Season 2 American Idol auditions, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie meet Wade Cota from Phoenix, Arizona. The 27-year-old man says “we grew up with nothin’” and he wants to now take care of his mother who has always taken care of him — even through some pretty hard times. He wants to make her proud. For his audition he sings “Blame It On Me” by George Ezra which has Lionel Richie smiling. Luke Bryan’s eyebrows raise up when he hears Wade’s gravely soulful voice.

George Ezra, the 25-year-old British folk singer, wrote “Blame It On Me” when he was 18 and just moved to Bristol. When he wrote the song, he said: “I was saddled with student loans, and I realized there were so many opportunities to play music, so unless I got busy, I could only blame myself.” American Idol airs Sundays at 8 pm on ABC, right before Shark Tank which airs at 10 pm.
