In the Blue Bloods episode “My Brother’s Keeper,” it’s Reagan versus Reagan when Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) goes against Jamie’s (Will Estes) direct order during a hostage negotiation at a dry cleaning shop. (The perp shot one hostage, Danny kept him from shooting another.) After the incident, Jamie reported his big brother and filed a Notification of Command Discipline.
Danny visits Jamie in his office at the 29, and says with disbelief (even though he’s holding the tangible letter) “You actually wrote me up?” Jamie replies very calmly, “I had no choice.” When Jamie talks about the statistics of such hostage negotiations, Danny loses it – Jamie does too. Jamie accuses Danny of going rogue, which of course he denies. Danny huffs out of the office.
The following Reagan family Sunday dinner is tense. Sister Erin (Bridget Moynihan) tries to convince Danny to drop it but he won’t. “I’m the victim here,” he says. “I did my job and he came after me for nothing.” Blue Bloods airs Fridays at 10 pm on CBS.
