The MTV reality show Siesta Key is back for Season 2. The star of the show is young, rich and handsome Alex Kompothecras who is back at home for the summer. When not at law school, he lives at his family’s 31,000 sq-ft mansion on the wealthy Florida island. As Alex’s girlfriend Juliette says, “In Siesta Key, summer starts on Alex’s Compo’s birthday, and his parties are always legendary.” Last year at his party is where and when Alex and Juliette became an official couple.
It’s Alex’s parents who plan Alex’s annual birthday bash. His father Gary Kompothecras, a chiropractor and founder of 1-800-ASK-GARY, a lawyer and medical referral service, says, “Alex’s birthday party is my favorite time of the year.” And Alex’s mom, Beth, gets excited for the parties too. After showing Alex and his friend Pauly where the DJ is going to be (on a boat over the pool), Beth says, “This party is going to be, as Paul (Alex’s friend) would say, lit.” Beth Kompothecras is the owner of So Staged Events & Rentals.
Gary and Beth met at the University of Tampa (where Alex went too). Beth was studying to become a kindergarten teacher but ended up following a career in radio marketing with Clear Channel. The idea to launch her own events company was prompted while planning her husband’s 50th birthday party.
Gary and Beth, who is 57, are the parents of six children. Alex is the eldest. His siblings Bronson and Sarah Alice are on the Autism Spectrum, and the youngest are triplets Gabriel, Helena and Neesa. Siesta Key airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on MTV.
